Functions

The Information Technology Department works closely with departments and agencies to provide them with technology related services that solve technology needs, improve efficiency, and allow them to offer new or improved services while ensuring the integrity, accessibility, and security of the information stored and processed on Wood County’s computer systems.

 

Mission

To serve Wood County taxpayers by providing technology related services guided by our core values that support and empower county departments and agencies in providing excellent service to our citizens.

 

Vision

Information Technology department will be a vital component in every department's service delivery methods. As strategic plans are developed for each facet of county government, Information Technology will play a key role in ensuring the advancement of the overall organizational goals. The adoption of new technology will be driven by this organizational need and the necessity to provide public service that is dramatically more effective. Our focus is on information security, network services, telecommunications, court technology support, technical training, computer services, audio and visual support, database and application development, web services, financial and emergency systems, and emerging technologies. The department provides technical project management services for all major projects to help assure that best practices and processes are being implemented.

 

Specifically, some of the services provided by the Information Technology Department are as follows:

  • Supports Wood County staff by answering technology support questions and devising solutions to their problems

  • Supports, maintains, configures, and enhances existing systems and networks as well as deploys new hardware and software

  • Provides guidance and consultation to end users with regard to Information Technology projects and purchases

  • Researches and devises strategies for the further utilization of automation and new technologies to enhance the quality and productivity of Wood County operations

  • Provides Help Desk Services for all the County’s computers, networks, systems and software applications

  • Develops, documents, and implements the policies and procedures designed to foster the efficient and secure utilization of Wood County’s technology investment
