Every year, Wood County Sheriff’s Office teams up with Texas Parks and Wildlife and the Sabine River Authority to host a free fishing tournament with the idea of getting kids “hooked on fishing, not on drugs”. The tournament not only promotes fishing as a sport but also gives children who are less fortunate an opportunity to become involved. This teaches healthy hobbies, builds confidence in our youth and promotes good sportsmanship. This tournament is always held the first weekend in June at the Sabine River Authority office from 8:00 A.M. to 12 P.M.
